I don’t think my job ever gets old. I have the honor of being around some of the most creative minds in the world and I am constantly being pushed in so many different ways I have no time to be lazy. It could be a meeting in London with iTunes execs…a meeting in ATL with my man Carlos….or with this guy……

That’s right..Israel Houghton

Today we start working on the new album set to release the first part of 2009. Before talking about songs..ideas…and dreams we talked about 3 things our teams will need in order to make this project a success.

1) Communication – I like to define who the artist’s key people are and who the label’s key people are. This has to be defined if we expect to get anything to move forward.

2) Expectation – Many times the breakdown between artist and label happens in the area of expectation. The artist expects one thing…the label expects one thing…but neither is communicated. That becomes a mess. So I like us to define where we are going and what we expect out of each other in order to accomplish the goal.

3) Trust – If the label team and the artist team can’t trust each other…then we should just walk away now. Putting trust on the table does not mean there will not be let downs, disagreements,or even failed attempts at ideas, but with trust we can always know the intention was right.

I am excited to see what happens and I hope you will join me along the way as I keep updates on the process. Israel’s goal for this album is to help people see that this thing we call “church” is bigger than this building we see on the corner….the “church” is US!

Be Well.
